Goldsmith

AJE Goldsmith was established in the Winter of 2022 by husband-and-wife duo Anthony and Peggy. They met in the late 90’s at Kent Institute of Art and Design whilst studying Jewellery Design and Manufacture.

Anthony is a highly experienced craftsman making contemporary jewellery for many of today’s top designers. Peggy has spent time at the bench too, and before having a family, she worked as a diamond grader and sorter for the world’s oldest diamond company. Peggy also holds a Fellowship of The Gemmological Association.  Both Anthony and Peggy have won awards from The Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council.

The jewellery they now craft is made in their Kent studio using and ancient Japanese technique known as ‘Mitsuro Hikime’. This enables them to create distinctive and characteristic striations in their work akin to that of bark, flowing water or paintbrush strokes. The initial formations are made using a mixture of materials, but mainly the beeswax from their family’s own bees. These structures are then cast with recycled precious metals using another time-honoured process known as ‘Lost Wax Casting’ to craft truly stunning and organic pieces.
